Replacing the laptop - anything you would change?

Definitely got me umming and ahhing about white and orange. Don't want to go with a white cast as keyboard/mouse/monitor is all black and it lives in the living room so has to look respectable, but not draw attention to itself. (I say with all my Razor glowing peripherals).

What's peoples opinion on the 290 vs 780? I see a lot of builds using the 290 but looking at reviews the general feeling I get is they run a little hotter, a little slower, and from experience they lack the driver support that Nvidia gets but I want to make sure I'm not dismissing a potent option unnecessarily.

Will have a sleep on it and hopefully decide and buy tomorrow.

I wouldn't say the 290 is slower than the 780, it depends on the games as some favour amd others favour nvidia. I got the impression the 290 was overall slightly faster than the 780, guess it depends on what reviews you read.
I've owned both ati/amd and nvidia cards and never had any issues with drivers from either side.

To be fair the cards are similar in performance and price. It does come down to which extras you want. G sync in the nvidia corner or mantle in the amd corner. Look at the games announced for mantle.... Then read about mantle and see if it would benefit you. Either way they are both great cards. Or maybe neither extras are appealing then just go for the prettiest one
