Windows these days handles major hardware changes just fine usually even going from Intel to AMD or vice versa. Just changed from X570 to X670E and apart from activating Windows 11 again which it did automatically as I had a retail licence it was a completely painless upgrade. Windows booted right up without any complaints, I installed the AMD chipset drivers again even though they were the same ones anyway as I needed the 7950X3D driver so games work properly and made sure any missing drivers were installed. Apart from that that was it.
Been almost a week now and everything is rock solid, all my programs work fine and Windows is perfectly happy and all my benchmark tests are showing the hardware performing exactly as it should.
Always best to make a backup before changing hardware just in case as you never know, but Windows from 7 onwards handles major changes extremely well.
A handy free tool I've used for years to remove dead devices from device manager is one called GhostBuster. It allows you to select all the devices no longer connected and usually hidden and remove them all in one go. Works great even on 11.
