Finally I've decided to replace the triggers broom of a bike I have in my possesion, it's been with me for at least twelve years now and apart from having four rear wheels, two front, new crank, gears, seats, pedals etc etc there's very little of the original bike left. Now the bottom bracket is clunking again and the rear disk sounds like a dying boar when in use. I've just finished the L2B last weekend on this.

I've got a £1,000 bike to work voucher and can probably put up to another £1,000 towards another. I cycle 50/50 gravel road and road, I'm 6'3" and 120kg so need something fairly robust. Although the above bike has front forks they have always been locked out, I have no need for any form of suspension.

Been looking at cyclocross / adventure road bikes. It has to be from Evans.

Curve ball below, maybe able to get it for £2k as it's an ex demo???

Any advice much appreciated :)

Be careful with dedicated cyclocross bikes as they can actually be quite aggressive if they're intended for racing. If you're not doing that you'll probably want something a bit more relaxed. I'd say you could be considering something like this if weight isn't your main concern, great bikes and the extra money doesn't really get you all that much in the grand scheme of things.

Went for the specialized in the end. Very happy :)

It's already filthy. Had my pedals fitted and a basic bike fit for an hour at my local place. Rides lovely. The width of the handlebars takes some getting used to.

Can't go wrong with a Crux! They're great workhorses although they can be quite aggressive geometry wise so you might find it takes some getting used to. Was looking at them before I settled on my Diverge.
