Im wondering, if i take a graphics card apart and replace the thermal paste on it, will this in any way invalidate the warranty.

I just had a look on the xfx warranty description page and it states they wont cover the guarantee if any modding has been done, the card is an xfx gtx 280, if i was going to replace the thermal paste id just be using the stock cooler again.

they will not know if u not tell them
I was thinking that if i did have to rma it theyd do a thorough examination of the card to check if any modifications had been done, this was the case with evga and a mobo that i sent for rma. They were able to confirm that the mosfett, nb and sb chipset heatsinks had been removed and the thermal paste changed (luckily they dont mind this), perhaps all manufacturers arent as stringent then.

As long as your intention is not to harm the card it self and your careful with undoing and re-doing the screws etc then you should not have a problem. They rarely check it properly anyway. I believe i read somewhere they check 1 in so many just to keep with working policy or something.
