Replacing thermal paste

Once it is on (if it is applied properly) you shouldn't have to touch it again. Computers lifespans generally aren't long enough to be an issue, they get replaced too quickly.

Yeah you can buy aftermarket paste. Most people keep a tube of Arctic Silver or similar handy. It's certainly wise to replace the paste every time you remiove the cooler.
