My Ultrasone Pro 900s recently started playing up after owning them for what must be close to 10 years now WOW! one side appears to have a loose connection, if i wiggled the headband they would start working again but now its got to the point no amount of wiggling gets both sides going, I attempted to take them apart and fix them with no luck.

Looking to replace them but not sure what to go for, im running them from a sound blaster g6 which isn't quite as good as my old asus xonar essence st but its decent.

I like a decent bass and bright treble, still love the pro 900's after all these years, tempted to take a punt on another used pair of the same ones, other wise don't really want to spend more than £200 on something.

Any suggestions? I have no clue when it comes to headphones.

If you din't find any visible loose/broken connection or joint, then it's likely broken wire inside cable/insulation.

Beyerdynamic DT770 would fit that strong bass and non-muffled treble preference and is certainly capable for gaming. (if that's use)

Ahhh that makes a lot of sense with the wire potentially being broken inside the insulation as i couldn't see any broken connection's. Will probably just put them up for sale as spares repairs, they have served me well for a very long time so I've more than got my moneys worth and if its an easy fix for somebody else that's a bonus. I will take a punt on a set of DT770's, Just after something half decent for the time being, Appreciate the reply!.

Stored the pro 900's away for now, The DT770's arrived today, initially unimpressed but after a bit of EQing they are sounding pretty good for £130, Some vocals sound much better than the pro 900's in fact, bass is adequate although not quite as good as the pro 900's but certainly adequate for general listening, only thing I'm finding a little lacking is some very very top frequency's, But then I'm somebody that likes a very bright unnatural treble for some reason, in my van i have PA style bullet tweeters for example lol! For the price though I'm impressed considering i paid nearly 3 times as much for the pro 900's!. These will do nicely until i upgrade again. This has made me really want to try out different headphones now.
