Hi there,

After 2 years of ownership (MacBook Pro 2.56GHz Mid 2009 15"), I've come across a light 4cm scratch on the base. Nothing major but it is noticeable and since I know its there its annoying me :p

Any ideas of the prices Apple will charge for a new one? I don't trust the chinese or American ones on offer on eBay.

Thanks :)

If you want to resell it a lot of potential buyers *would* be that neurotic. Base on my 2010 unit was replaced under warranty as the feet fell off (yeah...). Receipt said it was 180 quids.

Yes it is the bottom. The feet are actually in great condition for the age.

I thinking about replacing the bottom if the price is right mainly for resale value keeping everything in mint condition.

Not surprised - though I guess normal wear and tear is fine - mine seems to have got 'polished' from where I lay my hands when typing/using the touchpad...

ps3ud0

I've got a 2009 Macbook Pro unibody, etc. Anyway, one of the feet fell off... they said it wasn't covered by warranty, but I looked sad and asked nicely... which resulted in a replacement bottom. I don't have an emailed receipt, so I can't tell you how much it should have cost.

You must have the hang dog look down to perfection!

I think I will post a few pictures later when I'm home of this MacBook from late 2008 (first Unibody).

A scratch is the least of its worries! Dog-eared screens are the way forward in my opinion... :)

Haha. Looking forward to it :p

you'll be looking at something like £40ish. Also, because Apple Authorised resellers work the way they do, you'll likely have to pay someone to fit it as well...£25 at a guess.

When I asked in an Apple Store (the feet fell off mine and they were glued back on.. badly) they looked it up and said it would cost around £100 - £120.

Decided to just leave it..

After some thought and realising the cause (GF ;)) I'm thinking of leaving it as it is. Doubt if I do decide to sell for a newer model, the resale value will be much less with a scratch on the base.

Other than that, everything else is in mint condition.

Haha. Looking forward to it :p

Here you go!
