Replacing Wired Thermostat

We have a boiler with a wired thermostat which I want to replace with a wireless thermostat. I've been looking at thermostats and want to replace it with something like this http://www.salus-tech.com/cache/fil...brary/2015/11/Salus-RT500RF-Manual-006-cr.pdf

My current thermostat wiring looks like this

The wiring for the new one doesn't look to have an earth connection. Would this be a problem?
Would it be a case of putting the N wire from the old one to terminal 4 (N) on the new one, L to terminal 3 (L), 1 on the old one to COM (2) on the new one, 4 on the old one to NO (1) on the new one and remove the brown wire connecting L to 1 on the old one?
 
looking at the second pic the Earth wires are in a non conducting joint i.e they go no further than the screw joining them all together so current one has no earth either.
 
imhop - the right most one on the old (1), is the NO, so connects to 1 on the new one, and the old 4th COM to 2/COM on the new one.
The link from COM to live on the old one still needs to be there on the new device.
- the earths need a chocolate block to connect them nonetheless, maybe there is space in the new receiver.


Had you seen a review of this model ? was currently considering the hoineywell cm927, but maybe the potential ease of use of programming and wireless range is not worth the premium - I am a bit concerned these could intefere with dect phones too.

That wiring sounds like what I was thinking. Good to know that I'd have to keep the connection between L and COM. Thanks for the diagram. I'd not read specific review of this model, but I did see it mentioned here: http://www.bestreviewer.co.uk/10-best-wireless-thermostats-2017/
 
I've posted this before but I was recommended on here the PlumbCenter EHE0200361 over the Salus. I've been using it a year or two now without any problems. The PlumbCenter is a rebadged Honeywell at half the price, and will likely be easier to wire into your existing Honeywell system as I believe all Honeywells use a standard wiring?

Thanks (just read your earlier post) , the PlumbCenter one looks good, 4 temp periods a day should be fine,
How long have the 2aa bateries typically lasted ? if they have run out
(I am sure it will not loose the settings if the battery runs out, but my folks would not not want to have to play with it too frequently)

EDIT: the manual is not that clear - it discusses/shows just setting start time for each of four periods between 3.00am and 2:50am the next day - I assume the end of a period is when the next one starts ? so the final period runs until 2:50am

Looks like I bought it on the 19th Jan 2016 and probably fitted it a couple of days later. I'm still on the original batteries - so two years is pretty good going! I checked the batteries with the multimeter and they're reading 2.84v (in series).

I don't use the program mode but as an experiment I pulled the batteries, reinserted them, and it remembered the settings :). Interestingly it didn't remember the manual room temperature setting and reverted back to 21'c, but that's hardly a problem to change!
 
The program is usually set to raise the temp when you get up, setting 1. Then use 2 and 3 for whatever temps you want afterwards during the day/evening, and setting 4 is bedtime where you drop the temp to run over night till the next mornings setting.
