As per title. My brother's card (nvidia geforce 7300gs) is on its way out (ripping and tearing on screen 75% of the time) and i'm looking for a replacement card for him. With a budget of £50, would an ATI 4650/Nvidia 210/220 be any good on this budget (I've been looking in the MM also for bargains). He'll be using his 19" widescreen (1400x900) for HD films and will be eventually be getting a 22". Thanks in advance

been looking there as well, never saw that one, tho i'm not sure you're meant to mention or post links to 'competitors' sites..... even the 'bay ;)

if buying new buy the 4670 GDDR3 version. requires no external power connector and offers great performance for the price. It all depends on how stricly you wan tto enforce the limit on the budget. What psu does he have btw?

No external power connections needed would be great! Tho now the only problem is.....

4670 with 1024mb ram and 80 stream prcoessors

or

4670 with 512mb ram and 320 stream prcessors?

Not sure what the offset would be...

Make sure its the 320 Stream processors version with GDDR3 RAM. Dont go for 1GB, the card is not strong enough really to make use of a GB of RAM, not to mention it is not needed for resolutions lower than 1920x1200. And i am pretty sure its 1GB of slow DDR2 RAM insted of GDDR3.

Edit: This one seems to fit the bill from this site at least. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-000-VX&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1274 Personally i would prefer a better known brand like HIS or Sapphire which are not in stock here.

Looked around and found it. The above poster is right.

Basically shop around. You can get good deals on many brands of 4670 or 4770. 4770 require an external connector but barely needs it. I would guess that even the generic psu could handle it though i would look into it. Its a lot more powerful and only 8 pounds above budget.
