Replacment of onboard sound card advice

I have been running with onboard sound for a while now and want to put a better quality soundcard in my system.

I use the saound for the following:

Music mixing, Editing and also sound production.

I want somthing no to expensive but with the abillity to do the above.
Any suggestions?

get a x fi...it has different modes for whatever you do..mine has games, entertainment and audio creation..ive got an extreme gamer x fi im sure all x fi's has the same modes apart from maybe the gaming one..

X-Fi (which ever you can afford)

Lol. CL for music mixing? erm no.

Get a M-Audio, one of the models with rack mounted I/O modules.
