Hey all!

as the title suggests, i am expecting my replacement mobo 2moz, after the first one went and borked itself

anyhow, i've read that as licences are tied to the board i'll need to reactivate windows (anyone know if same applies to MS office 2007?)

the board is a direct replacement and the same model (xfx 790i ultra) and i'm running vista ultimate x64 OEM.

what do i need to do? what should i expect? etc.

i'd rather not do a clean install etc, just plug in existing install and go if possible.

any help muchly appreciated!

If it's the same model of board you can just plug everything in and it should work fine (assuming you've set the BIOS up right). Though I have heard stories of people needing to reactivate after changing a BIOS, though this may be urban myth.

Wow that was quick! <2.5mins!

ok cheers! will see what happens 2moz
something is bound to come up knowing MS

I will suspect you will need to use the automatic phone system, I did when I changed from RAID to single disc on my Abit IP 35 Pro.
Vista is a lot more fussy than XP.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why all my legitimate Windows install media are in drawers in shrinkwrap ;)

But, a like-for-like swap /should/ be fine, it usually only if you buy new components that it accuses you of piracy.

I was asked once, it's the urban truth ;)
