i have some switches i need to reprogram. im a bit of a noob at this, i know how to run a cable and hyperterminal and know the passwords.

what i need is the command to wipe their config files then the command to run a diagnostic on them.

can ayone help?

I think you can use:

erase flash or clear config all but i'm not too sure.

Your best bet would be to have a look on cisco.com at the command references for specific switch models.

What do you mean by list the diagnostic?

sh ver will give you the versions of the current IOS and bootstrap and also the memory status.

sh run would give you information about the config, but you've wiped that.

In fact, typing sh and pressing tab will give you a list of all the things you can see...

I'm disturbed you're about to reprogram high end cisco switches (35xx and 4xxx) and yet don't know how to wipe the config to start with. Good luck writing config for them...
