• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Reputation.

I find it easier to base my views on people on what they post, rather then their post count or some other easily manipulated score.
The idea isn't simply that you should trust what's said by those with a high rep, the idea is that a rep system might encourage people to make useful posts in the first place.

Do You really think it will work......I'd be happy if people just managed to say thank you, when you make the effort to help ;)

Graphics card wars have been going on since the earliest newsgroup days, and sound card wars.. sheesh Gravis Ultrasound vs Soundblaster.. that was worse than this.

Hardly anyone here actually knows what is going on, they are just regurgitating stuff they have read somewhere else. Once you realise that then you learn to make your own mind up and be responsible for your decisions.

Not really. If you have a low number of posts Rep will likely be low whicher system is used. If you post frequently and receive little or no Rep, that will also tell a story.

Won't tell anything really imo. Some people like me often post to keep the flow of the forum or thread moving so to speak. I have over 2k posts, which isn't that little, but I doubt anyone knows who I am, and I'm sure it applies for lots of other people as well. Not everyone makes 'big punchy' posts that are popular, and/or are a forum 'personality', who will inevitably get more rep.

You can see that on the Steam forums. I have over 1000 posts, but only 22 rep. Not because I say anything unpopular or am nasty, its just because I don't say anything either funny or find out anything before anyone else.
