Reqest: Can someone with a 290X run the Crysis 1 benchmark maxed out?

Shame it doesn't have better cpu optimization than a lot of the games today. Cpu bottleneck central.

How many CPU cores does crysis use ?

Crysis is so old now I can remember...:o and I haven't got my G19 LCD software installed at the moment so I can't check this for myself

Two. :(

Don't make the mistake i did a month or two back when i replayed it on DX10. Apparently the bottleneck is not so bad if you stick to DX9.

Yeah it really does bottleneck badly. I remember being bottlenecked on my 480 SLI & i7 860 system. I'd overclock the GPUs and the FPS would stay the same :p

Plays lovely on a single Titan, even though the fps are not as high as more demanding games. IIRC maxed it was always above min of 60 fps.

It is not a bottleneck you are dealing with though, it is a rubbish piece of software. Overclocking the CPU or GPU or both does not change much and lets be honest the graphics by modern standards are not that great.

Crysis is a bit like running DOS @the C prompt, it does not matter what GPU/CPU setup you run.

It starts off fine, but it gets worse as the game goes on. I was fighting the last boss at 35fps on DX10. Gpu usage plummeting and two threads locked at 100% on the cpu. :D Warhead was no better either. In parts that weren't cpu limited though it ran and looked great. I do wonder now looking back whether it might have been wise to turn hyper threading off.

It is not that good with it turned on with a 3930k

I'll take your word for it. Although i enjoyed playing it, the graphics were lovely, even without mods. I won't be going back to test it again though. Once bitten twice shy. :p

The final boss fight is a buggy mess on dx10. Works fine on dx9 though. The various mods available make dx9 look just as good as dx10 without the bugs.

Yeah it was during those moments that i thought why didn't i just pick DX9. :p
