Requesat: HTPC/Media PC Forums

Hi,

I see a lot of questions (including one of my own recently) in direct relation to media centre PC's and HTPC's. The questions range from which software is best, to how can I gain a scart output etc.

In my opinion it deserves its own forum, there are a broad range of topics in relation to media centres that dont always fit in with general hardware, such as codecs and how to setup the electronic programme guide correctly.

Would be nice to have a resource of information in one forum with some pretty stickys to.

Anyone else share these thoughts?

Good Idea!

I agree with you, it would be excellent to have a dedicated sub-forum for HTPC/Media Centre PC's as people post in both General Hardware & Home Cinema & Hi-Fi asking for advice on these, not to mention the fact that HTPC/Media Centre PC's are becoming a lot more popular. So to have sub-forum to house all the questions/guides and other info would be fantastic addition to the OcUK Forums.

If a Mod is passing through, what do you think the chances are?

How many threads does the topic generate roughly? Just a quick check using search and I reckon there have been maybe 10-15 since the start of April (searching using "media" and "htpc" in GH but not including threads that seem unrelated) which isn't a huge amount, there are more on PSUs alone so it suggests that it would be rather a quiet forum. Maybe not but I could see it going the same way as the Optical Drives or SFF sub-forums which can go for quite a while without posts.
