Hi.

My friend is looking to build a new computer for music production (Pro Tools) and a bit of gaming. He will be doing some live recording / mixing / effects and thus requires a fair bit of power.

This is the spec we have created and would appreciate any input you would like to give.

We will be ordering two Akasa 12cm SMOKE Silent Colour Fan (AK-191-SM) fans from another company as Overclockers UK has sold out.

Thank you for your time and input,
Jon

My friend has an external hardware interface A/D converter that he uses for recording and playback.

That's great, thanks. May I ask why you switched the CPU, RAM and motherboard? Is there much difference in the CPU? They're both i7's? Also, why did you change the PSU?

The PSU is very good for the price and is modular, I think it's from the same manufacturers that supply Corsair with some of there PSU.

Mainly, more a personal choice if your going i7 then go with the 9xx series, as there is very minimal price difference also they can be slightly quicker, but the ultimate choice is with your good self :)

If he's recording he may want to try n build a "quiet" system, as such Id be looking at a better case for starters (look at Antec P series or Fractal maybe), a nice quiet aftermarket cooler (you included TIM but no cooler? Look at Noctua) and possibly change the gpu to something like an ATI vapor X variant which will be quieter
This well help isolate any PC noise from his productions
The Sapphire PSU is a rebadged Enermax
