Hi, everybody!

If any of you have a few moments to spare (and a huge amount of hard drive space, coupled with a massive internet connection) could you please download and run the rolling X3 demo (link below - please remove if it's unauthorised).

http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3/demos_en.php?list=56

The demo is a pretty brutal test of the CPU, memory and graphics sub-system of the computer so it's a good indicator of how well the game runs on all your butch systems.

If you do decide to run the demo, could you please post your results and your system specs? If you could run it in your monitor's standard res or as close to 1280x1024, that would be fabulous.

Many, many thanks,

Oh, well - looks like I need to upgrade sooner rather than later. :(

Thank you very much, people! Some pretty spectacular stuff going on with those systems...

Harris1986: I think the benchmark takes about 10 minutes to run... it's nice to watch, too!

It's awesome... but I've been running it since January on my system and it is brought to its knees on a regular basis.

The game is actually - as you're seeing - a tight balance of raw CPU speed and graphics card beastiness... 'tis a very good benchmark, but sadly only rarely used on any website.

Even so, it would appear that I'll need an extremely butch system to run it nicely... :(

I'm very impressed with the results of the Conroe systems... some serious horsepower there.

It's interesting looking at graphics cards, too...
