Hey guys,

Im fairly new to the forums, Ive been viewing up on different spec me threads but havent really been able to come up with anything.

Im looking to spend around 500-600quidish on either just the base unit, or with a 20-22inch monitor (depends on which gives me better performance). The main use of the pc will be for gaming. Would personally like a quad core to make some future proofness. I will not be overclocking atm, but am hoping to in the near future (after I learn how to do it heh). Dont need an OS either and would prefer 4 gigs of ram.

I also have the Nzxt lexa blackline case, which I got as a gift but never opened. Is that a good enuf case?, or would another one be more appropriate?

Think I've mentioned everything ^^. Would be awesome if I can get some help ;)

Welcome to the forums mate :)

The case will be fine.
You'll need either XP64 or Vista 64 as 32 bit OS won't do 4GB RAM.

Rough Spec as follows:

CPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-172-IN
MOBO: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-131-AB&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=913
RAM: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-022-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817
HDD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-128-SE&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=768
GFX Card: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-072-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1008
Optical Drive: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-003-OT&groupid=701&catid=10&subcat=
Heatsink: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-017-AR
Monitor: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-012-DE&groupid=703&catid=17&subcat=
PSU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-CS

Thats £811 but room for some tweaking of prices (Includes monitor) (Operating System NOT included)

That system will last you a good while mate :D

You could shave a bit off the price by going for 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD instead of 400Gb and maybe a slightly cheaper GFX card but I'd try to keep the 8800GT in the build as they are only marginally slower than the 8800GTX.

left the monitor out, thought Id rather use my old 22inch CRT for a month or 2, and buy a dell one later on.

Being a bit fussy but made some last changes before I hit the checkout button (the leadtek version atm is on pre-order so changed it to the BFG one since im impatient heh)

Received the parts yesterday, fast delivery and just installed Windows. Rig looks awesome, will post pics etc later on. Anything other than that vid card driver needs to be installed btw for the system?

Hey andy!, built up my system earlier this morning (altho received one faulty stick of ram) and was thinking of having a shot at overclocking. Never done it before tho :P, any advice where to start, i.e. nifty tools to use for the spec i have here?: http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/5687/87845719vl4.jpg Going through the basic guide but not sure on what to use ;o

Hah lol copy paste ***, so yar would be leetness for some more help ;)

Cheers, working on it atm takes ago tho :P Going up in 5's to be safe from stock (272) or is it wiser to make a jump to something bigger?
