Sorry if this is not the right place for a 'help' topic, wasn't quite sure where to put it.

Onto my problem. I was playing Battlefield 3 one night and turned off the PC as usual. I then turned on the PC the next day only to find it would show a few screens such as the Energy Star screen, beep once and then shut itself down. I thought how odd so tried to turn it on again but nothing would be displayed on the screen and it would power down again.

I initially thought it might be the PSU, it was still under warranty so I thought what harm could their be in replacing it? My new Corsair GS800 arrived from Overclockers (Obviously) today and I stuck it in, wired everything up aaaaaand.....it happened again. The exact same problem. :(:confused::(

Below are my computers specs (It came already built from a computer making company.).

CPU - Intel Core i7 Processor i7-920 (4 X 2.66GHz) 4.8GTs/8MB Cache.
Motherboard - ASUS P6T DELUXE: DDR3, SATAII, 2 x PCI-e x16, 2 PCI, 1 x PCI-e x1.
RAM - 12GB CORSAIR XMS3 1333MHz (6x2GB).
Graphics Card - Nvidia GeForce 9800GT.
PSU - Corsair GS800.

If there's any other information needed, I'll try and hopefully supply it.

P.S. I don't care about the stuff on the PC, a wipe or w/e to get it working again would be no problem.

Record beep codes and go to ASUS website to check what it means the easy route... The fact that it gets to Energy star screen should suggest that components are working since signal is sent out to Monitor. Problem could be that CPU cooler is dead and CPU overheats and therefore shuts PC down to prevent it from cooking.

I would advice to clear Bios, open your Motherboard manual find where it says Clear_CMOS locate it on your motherboard, get screwdriver and press it across 2 pins for 2-3secs or take out battery... whatever is easiest... This should remove the probability that the BIOS messed up.

It also depends how far your PC goes it might be that the Windows died and so you encounter this problem, can you access bios?? If you can dont clear CMOS. With problems like this, you just need to take it step by step, take out most of the components and only leave vital ones, see if it works. Since problem can be from most of components in your PC, so you need to take it slow and identify if the problem is with software (windows) or Hardware (cpu,PSU etc)

I am not a professional at this, but my PC died few times on me and I always nurtured it back to life :D So obviously do some research before attempting anything....

I've managed to get into the BIOS and seen the CPU temperature, it's in the 80's and climbing so it does appear to be the CPU Cooler.

Could anyone recommend another CPU Cooler? Preferably a reasonably priced one and I'm not fussed about the noise :)

Well dont turn on your PC now, since by doing it many times you can cook it, since temperature rises so high that bios steps in, this is definitely not healthy.

Take this advice, I fried my last cpu by letting it hit 85 degrees then Bios knocked it off. I repeated this many a times and eventually.. Nope dead
