Hi all.

A few hours ago I turned my PC on and it booted into windows as it always does.

I started watching a video then left the room and when I returned the PC was still on but not visible on my TV which it's connected too.

I restarted the PC and it did the same, turned on but not visible on the TV.

I restarted again and this time it turned itself off after a few seconds.

Multiple attempts later and it either stays on for a few seconds then turns off or stays on for several minutes before turning off.

I have replaced the GPU but that hasn't worked.

I am given no indication from the motherboard via beeps or lights to give me any further information and I cannot access the BIOS.

Can anyone here offer some help?

Thank you.

Built in late August 2024, everything brand new.

Nothing has changed since then and its been working perfectly until today.

I have:

ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WiFi

AMD 7800X3D

G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo EXPO RGB 64GB

TUF Gaming 850W Gold PSU

WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB SSD

Thank you

Have you tried the igpu to see if that makes any difference? does not have a big power draw like dedicated GPUs do.

Could try a clear cmos and see if that helps.

To confirm, there is an LED section in the top right of the board. Are none of these lit up to show Boot\VGA\RAM\CPU?

If still no joy could try a new HDMI cable or try a different port on the GPU\TV as well.

Edit, I see it has a DP port as well, could try this if you have a DP cable and monitor

Cleared CMOS, tried icpu, no led's lit at all and changed cables and no change.

It just keeps turning off after either a few seconds or several minutes with no indication of what's wrong, incredibly frustrating

Have you tried with 1 stick of ram in and if that fails try another slot?

Could try re seating the PSU cables to the motherboard, make sure they are all secure and clicked in to place and also on the PSU side as well as I assume the PSU is modular.

What cooler do you have for the cpu?

Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB Dual Tower CPU Cooler - 120mm.

Tried the 1 stick of ram, no joy and all cables are secure.

That leaves the cpu, motherboard or psu.

All three as previously mentioned were brand new, bought in August 2024 and have worked flawlessly since then until today with no tinkering since, it's also not overclocked.

No idea why it just stopped, nothings changed from yesterday to today.

Thank you both.

Tried both, my old psu and plugging into a non surge protected socket and exactly the same thing happens.

After my last post last night I actually thought the same that it was the psu but apparently not.

Could it be the cpu or motherboard? Or is it likely something else?

The PC powers on, fans whirl for 3 seconds then turns itself off. No beeps or lights to indicate any problem.

Thank you

If its the same issue with your old PSU which you know was working then I would lean towards the motherboard.

Very rare a CPU will die (But can happen). I would remove the CPU and just double check the socket for any issues along with the bottom of the CPU

Have you got Armoury Crate installed? Have heard this can cause problems.

Wonder if something auto updated and messed up?

Could try flashing latest bios using flashback.

Thank you.

Yes, I do have armoury crate installed but would that turn the PC off after 3 seconds?

I'll try and source another computer, mine is the only one in the house to get the latest bios to flash.

And I'll get the board out of the case and try that, if that fails I'll go back to my old intel board until I can get a replacement or buy a bew board that fits my AMD cpu.

agree, at this point I would be looking for signs of burning in socket and cpu pads

Thank you all for your help.

After following everything suggested here I've come to the conclusion that it's the motherboard.

The cpu connectors look fine and the socket looks fine too and everything else has been substituted and checked.

So it's going back to the seller.

Thank you all again.

No idea, never used it myself but have read lots of posts about it causing all sorts of problems and recommendation is to remove it.

Is the cooler screwed in to tight? Though i think it would cause boot issues from when you first built it.

Do the debug lights work if you try to boot with no RAM installed?
