Ok bear with me here guys and girls, I've stuck with Amd for the last 5 years and am completely out of tune with Intel's current offerings and ratings system, sockets etc etc!!!!

What I'm after is a recommendation for components around the Intel E6850 cpu, namely I'm needing help for a combo of parts to run said cpu which are motherboard/ram/heatsink/psu.

Primary use would be gaming, overclocking capability isn't a priority for me.

I was looking at the Asus P5K3 deluxe mobo along with 2GB Corsair DDR3, decent 600W psu and Arctic Cooler 7 HSF but heard issues about the HSF not fitting properly?

Aiming for at least 2gb of ram (was looking at a DDR3 setup though would certainly consider DDR2 due to current prices!)

I'll be using my current gfx card/hdd/case etc etc for the rest of the build.

Apologies for the slightly confusing rant but hoping some of you guys can help me!!

Budget for cpu/mobo/cpu hsf and psu is around £680. Current graphics card is evga overclocked 8800gts 640mb in an Antec Nine Hundred case with tagan 480w psu (aware this psu may need upgrading?), sli isn't important at all :)

I'm not a keen fan of overclocking cpu's that much so that capability isn't a priority for me.

As for DDR3, I'm aware that the prices are well, harsh! So I'm probably more inclined to go with a recommendation for DDR2 :)

Hope that helps, sorry for not making it more clear in original post.

Would this combo work ok together at all? :)

OCZ GameXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 "LGA775 Conroe" 3.00GHz (1333FSB) -

Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard

OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR800C44GK)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

Looked like a good setup though I'm a dunce with intel's fsb ratings, ie using an fsb 1333 cpu with fsb 1033 ram (never owned an Intel before so go easy on me!) :)

Any clarification that the above would work together in some sort of harmony!?

Well in the end I plumped for the following;

Asus P5K-E,
Q6600 cpu,
Arctic cooler 7 hsf,
4 GB OCZ PC6400 Reaper edition ram (I'm now looking at having a go at overclocking due to hearing about so many people easily reaching 3GHZ, my intended target).

Cheers for all the advice chaps :)
