res or eye candy?

I usually keep the res and lower the eye candy but if it's an exceptionally pretty game like Crysis I slightly lower the res

I can't play it on the PC and thats with a 7800GT.. I have the PS3 ver which maintains a silky smooth 60FPS throughout the game, except maybe when there's a load of smoke and a zillion things going on..

Not tested using fraps but to the eye on my 3.0ghz P4 HT 2gig 7800GT it looks like its running at around 25fps at 1280x1024... Anyway though the mouse / keyboard are so much better than a pad, with this game my ps3 ver wins hands down due to the silky gfx compared to the rather nasty looking 25fps and no AA or AF...

you're CPU limited matey.

To answer the OP, i will always set res at native for the monitor i'm using, THEN adjust eye-candy levels to suit.
then again, i've got an 8800GTX. who cares? all to max!!!

you should get an 8600GT if you're strapped for cash. an 8600GT is as good as a 7900GT :)
