hi
is there a more modern/convenient method of analysing/fixing etc hard drives pre boot , like partition magics two floppies do? ......ie usb drives etc?

many thanks
cheers

Lots of ways.

There are loads of bootdisks (google usb bootdisks) which can run of a USB memory stick (check that your BIOS supports this booting) and come loaded with a ton of utilities.

Sadly I can't find any to link as most of them contain commercial software.

UGH... floppies. :mad:

USB stick ( or CD-ROM if you can't boot from USB )

With DOS you have to use a floppy image, then load a CD-ROM driver to see the rest of the CD.

With a multiboot CD, you can have a whole bunch of images on one CD ( DOS, Linux e.t.c. ) and choose from a boot menu.

A very good resource---> http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/
