Reseating Ati 5870

Hi All,

My Ati 5870 is overheating and needs reseating.

What is the best thermal compound to get to do this?

Also i have never done this before, so are there any videos i can see of this being done? I have searched youtube to no avail.

MX-4 gets my vote on tim

Removal is pretty easy, take screws out, clean with articlean, apply new tim, reseat cooler and test

I'd give the HSF a good dust as well. That's a big factor in temp increase.

Thanks for the info. I have swapped round by cards to see if its an air flow issue etc, however both cards run between 77 & 90 idle, but they are running at 97% activity in the ccc.

Is it worth reseating them or do you think it is just load related?

i cannot see where the load is coming from though.
