Reserator 2 cutting out

A couple of times now I've come in to find my beloved PC sitting silent in the corner, turned off. Having no real way to find out what's happened, I've had to just power it on and grumble a bit.

A few times over the last few days, however, I've been sitting at the PC and my Reserator 2 has started to beep. It's turned itself off.

Watching the flow regulator at random times revels nothing, it's spinning as it normally does.

I was wondering if it might cut out because I had the PC on for so long and eventually all the water in it was heating up too much for the pump, or maybe there was an internal sensor or something. The radiator section was very warm to the touch.

But it's happened today, and the radiator is still cool, so I'm not so sure.

It's happened when I'm playing a game and it happened a few seconds ago (If I'm here, I can restart it and it keeps ticking along again), and I'm just browsing the 'net. My CPU is barely being used.

So I have no idea what's causing this.

Anyone seen anything like it?

Update:

I turned the whole thing off for 2 weeks over Christmas and forgot about it.

When I came back in January, I had a few days of normal operation and then it started doing it again.

I've reset it, kicked it (that hurt my toe, I can tell you, I wasn't wearing shoes) and shaken it to try and clear any air out (although I doubt this was the problem as I had 2 months of correct operation out of it).

It's still doing it. Sometimes every few minutes, sometimes it'll last a couple of hours.

The block isn't enough to cool the CPU on it's own, so if I'm at work and this happens, the CPU will overheat and the PC will be shut down when I get back. Might this be damaging, or do the Core 2 Duos have sensors that shut down before any heat damage occurs?

Anyway. It's also happening at night, which wakes me up. Grr.

I've emailed the OcUK designated contact, who've said they're happy to take a look at it and replace it if it's faulty.

I asked them if it was faulty, would it be possible for me to get a partial refund, as it would be a major hassle to take it all apart, fit fans to the thing, send off reservoir, get replacement, fit tubes back, run for 3 days to make sure all the seals are still good etc etc.

He said that I'd have to contact Overclockers about this.

Before I do fill in an RMA form, what are my rights on this? Obviously I'm entitled to a replacement, but what if I don't want one and want some money instead? It's coming up on 4 months old, so I should get at least 50% of the cost back, but am I allowed to ask for that (especially if this thing is common with the Zalman pumps), or do I have to go for the replacement?

Could I exchange it for a CPU fan, a graphics cooler (any ideas on which one?) and a credit note?

Any advice appreciated :)
