Reserator and a 10w DDC ?

I wondered if a DDC would be to powerful seeing as the Reserator is not very restrictive and i wondered if you could hear the water traveling through the loop but as somebody thats into quiet systems i was just thinking about emailing you but you saved the trouble :)

DDC are sometimes known to make a rotor whine when they are not under heavy load can you hear any from your DDC at all. ?

No - I've got a PetrasTech top on mine and it's mounted on grommets to stop vibration. The pump inlet is fed from the reserator and there's potentially 0.5m of head at the inlet, so the outlet pressure would be excellent, but for the fact that I've Baddass modded the reserator and so I've reduced that head differential to about 0.15m. It's still extremely quiet though. I should point out that I'm only cooling a GPU block with 1 reserator and the CPU with another in 2 loops.
 
Now that i've got more room i'm going back to a Reserator as i miss the annoying sound of the mouse /Keyboard clicking being loudest part of the computer. :D :p

But with 3 blocks and the CPU block being up high in my full tower i think it would be too much for the 5w pump so was thinking a DDC or a Eheim 1046 But it has to be silent or it would defeat the whole point of having a Reserator.Did you leave the flow indicator inline in the DDC loop and ifso does it rattle ? And did you have much trouble getting the base off and did you use a sash clamp or one of those strap clamps for removing oil filters ?

Nope, I've never used those.

I had MASSIVE trouble getting the bottom off. I removed the quick-releases, then clamped the bottom into a Black-and-Decker Workmate and then I used a rubber strap spanner on the main tower. I then got someone to hold the workmate down while I heaved away on the strap spanner. The one I used was called a Boa-Contrstrictor and it was the biggest strap spanner they had in the shop after I took two punier ones back as being useless.

The bottom thread is coated in blue goo so when you start turning the base it feels like it's slipping, but it's just tight.

And even though I used plenty of rags while it was clamped, I still scratched the base something awful.

Have you considered using a D-tek DB-1 or XSPC 750 pump as a straight replacement for the eheim that's in there now? Both are fully submersible and can be bodged in with a bit of 3/8" tubing. I did one with a D-tek for a friend and it's much oomphier than the original.
 
I've got a MCP350 ready to use but i'm starting to think i might try the original pump first as that sounds like a right pain to remove.Wonder why they go to so much trouble sealing it in it's not like it is going to leak.

Always used my Res2 with at least 3 blocks as designed and it's a 3w pump with half the flow but twice the head.
It currently has 5 blocks and an extra rad in the loop - it's a pig to get started but not a problem once going.

Try it with the inc pump if your going for low restriction blocks - if cooling a quad then replace pump as the best blocks are flow killers (but you know this already ;))
