Hi All
I can not decide which would be the best to go for the Zalman Reserator1 plus or Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra+ Watercooling Kit.

They are both around the same price (if I add a northbridge block to the Zalman). I want them for my HTPC when I upgrade it with left overs from my gaming rig upgrade (AMD 3700, 6800GT). Its go to be quiet but as I will be doing video/ DVD work it has to keep things cool.

Ive also seen a post for the new Zalman Reserator2’s how long (if at all) before Zalman Reserator1’s are price reduced?

Thanks Mike

the reserator 1 is meant to be a bit of kettle, if you know what i mean, the second one (reserator 2) performs a hell of a lot better, but loses some of the "style" from the first one, as it looks like a 1970's radiator. At the moment i would go for the swiftech one, or wait and get the reserator 2

Swiftech = performance
Zalman = Silence + looks kinda blingy
But that doesnt mean that the Swiftech is noisey, unless i start gaming i cant hear the twin fans on my swiftech duel rad over the ambient noise in the room and even when im gaming i dont notice the fans either.

Regarding noise is it possible to change the fans with quieter ones? I just ordered the Swiftech so i hope its more quiet than having fans,

You can run the fans at 7v or 5v or as i do connect the fans to your CPU fan plug on the Mobo and use Speedfan or similiar to control the fans, the ones that come with the Swifteck kit are noisey at 100% but using speedfan i have them at 35% unless the CPU temp goes over 36C (rare) and they then spin up to 75% (still very quiet).

The swiftech is good... if you get much the same loop but with separates and a bigger/better rad, however, you can turn the fans down so low your HDs will be the loudest thing in the room by far... and then you'll be where I am, pulling out hair trying to figure out a way to silence an external HD box :rolleyes:

Am not concerned for my HD's since they are dead quiet due to being in a special case. Am more concerned about the pump and fans.

You wont be able to hear the pump at all so long as youre not daft and bolt it into place. Laing Delphi DDC-1s are some of the quietest pumps around.

The era of noisy pumps is well and truly over, so long as you stay away from D4s and large Eheims. Even my Iwaki is dead silent when decoupled.

Sit it on some foam, replace the fans with Nexus/Yate Loon if theyre not already, turn them down, good to go.

Should really invest in a triple-size Thermochill PA if youre after silence though.

I will be having the D5. I'll see if the fans are noisy first before changing them. The ThermoChill PA ain't cheap. Do they really worth it?

If its silence youre after, yeah. You basically get the same performance with fans @ 4v that other rads get @7v, 7v = other rads @ 9.5v, and so on... and they have less airflow noise on top.

Well let's wait and see. My swiftech will be here on monday probably. If I can hear just a ''little bit'' of noise it doesn't really bother me. I've had far worse :eek: with my fans
