Reservoir position

Noob w/c question, I read that the reservoir needs to be before the pump in the loop and that the rest of the component order does not matter too much (ie rads, blocks). Question is does the reservoir (a tube reservoir) need to be before the inlet of the pump, in this case a D5, or can it be ahead of the outlet? Reason I ask is that I would like to position the reservoir physically directly above the D5, and this is above the pumps outlet (which is vertical) and not inlet which is horizontal. If the reservoir can be positioned at the outlet it would make for easier routing.

If the res is connected to the outlet of the pump then it's not before the pump in the loop order ;)
 
dont matter much, as long as you have enough head at inlet of pump with as little resistance to flow at that point as poss. your whole system is a resevoir in effect. as long as your pump doesnt starve or cavitate.
 
As long as you have the res before the inlet of the pump u will be fine..
This is just to prevent the pump to start pumping air...
(Also increase waterflow for some reason)
