Reservoir Size

Hi guy's. I'm wanting opinions on what size reservoir is acceptable for my loop.

I've currently got an EK Xres 140 which is perfectly adequate at the minute but I've also just purchased one of these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-w...3.2-pwm-elite-plexi-incl.-pump-wc-909-ek.html with the intention of using it with an Aqua aqualis XT.

I can buy a 100ml version for just over £30 or the next size up the 150ml is nearly double the prie. Would a 100ml be sufficient or would I be better off going for the 150ml to give me a little extra wiggle room.

I have 2 x 240mm rads a 120mm rad, Gpu block and Cpu block in my loop.

Cheers.

Over the years I've a variety of reservoirs between 100mm & 400mm and the smaller the res the more of a pain filling a loop is but other than that the size of the res is irrelevant.

In my experience the size has no discernible impact on temperature it's just that if you have a big case then a larger res can look nicer especially when filled with coloured/pastel fluid.

The only "difference" res size has on temperature is the larger a res, the longer it takes the loop to reach equilibrium.

I can see the idle temperatures of my CPU/GPU slowly rise for a good 15 minutes or so with my XSPC Photon 270.

On the flip side, with just a CPU under water in my old rig, and a small EK-Multioption Basic (I think these are around 100Ml?), it takes only a few minutes for the temperature to stabilize.

I've used various sizes over the years and currently have a 80mm res, makes filling the loop take slightly longer as you can't pour asmuch fluid in one go as the bigger res. Bigger res mainly for aesthetics.

Ok thanks for your replies.

I've decided to go for the 100ml one as the price difference is just not worth the extra 50ml capacity. My case is not the largest as it is so it won't look too out of place.

Any.

You don't actually need a reservoir in a system, we just started using them because it made filling the loop easier (prior to this we just used a T piece with a bit of tube and a bug). Reservoir size has no actual effect on performance (just the time it takes for the loop to reach operating temperature).
