Hello

I am looking at buildiong a PC for the 1st time so this question is a no-brainer but I am not sure.

On the Antec P182 this a push button for RESET, is this to connect if the mobo has it a connection from BIOS reset to it so mobo can be reset from outside?

Trouble is gigabyte for example say resetting a mobo, you have to remove battery and wait 20 mins to clear CMOS, now this this be achieved if its a push switch!!

cheers

a rest switch on a PC case is usually as Tombo said, it throws the circuit only for that instant, a bios rest switch would normally have to switch the circuits like a traditional jumper would, so perhaps this push-to-break case switch won't work?

by all mean stry it though, perhaps gigabyte reworked the bios reset for that reason! I'm sure you don't have to remove the battery for 20minutes, look online/RTFM for the actual BIOS jumper, you'll have to take the case side off to do it each time, but not wait 20 minutes like you'd have to anyway!

ok, so that is not the BIOS reset switch then, hmmm what other use does a normal computer have for a reset switch then!!! standby hib.. modes are all off the setting the the normal power button.

Fair question, but guess you've never had the PC hang on you? Think its better & safer than killing the power through the mains or pulling out the kettle lead or pushing the power button for 4-secs or... etc :)

You could put a switch on the CLR_CMOS jumpers, I would put some sort of protection on it the last thing you want to do is reset your CMOS by accident.

But yeah, in theory (and practice) it is very easy to do, and would work.
