The guy who installed my router, in all his wisdom, forgot to tell me the details for logging into my default gateway, and he has forgotten them, and some bright spark forgot to save the details.
Is there any way to reset or recover these details? All I know is that the router is a Mentor.

Most routers factory reset by pressing a recessed reset button on the unit for a long period 1of 0s or more whilst you have the power on.

other variations include press and hold reset button whilst tirning the power on.

okays, i'll have a looksee for this reset button, after rereading your post, is it a difficulty to set up the router, or is it just a question of setting a user + pass?

You have to setup a few settings...other than the username/password such as ATM PVC Configuration, the protocol (pppoa or pppoe) and a few others I think...the exact details of what you have to configure should have been e-mailed to you or sent in the post when you first setup the isp account.

god damn.
I highly doubt these details are still within my household. Can I request for them to be sent to be you think?

Definitely...email or call your ISP and I reckon they'd email you the details if you told them your login ID.
