Hi i have a friend and his pc keeps reseting. He thinks it the the case maybe somthing shorting becuase it always does it when he moves it or lifts it up right .. any ideas?
Did taking it all out include removing the motherboard? Might be a screw rattling under there. Also check that the risers that hold the motherboard away from the tray are only underneath the metal rimmed screw holes where they are supposed to be.
The other thing to check is that the front pannel connections are correctly wired up. It's probably worth trying it without the front pannel plugs connected to see if its them that are faulty. Turn it on by touching the two power connectors together with a screwdriver.
Of course there is also the option that its nothing to do with a loose connection at all. Check that "automatic restart" is turned off (control pannel>system>advanced>start up and recovery settings) and then you might get blue screens giving you a bit more info about whats gone wrong.
Please note that desktop systems (especially their hard drives) are not designed to be moved around while switched on, so it might be better for him to just try not to knock it!
