My Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 motherboard has, like most boards these days the option to clear the RTC ram data by moving a jumper onto adjacent pins for a second or so (with the power supply disconnected of course) and then re-energising.
What I would like to do though is to completely reset the BIOS as close to 'factory conditions' as I can, and wondered if I would achieve better results by actually removing the battery on the motherboard for a short while?
I seem to have completely messed up my drive configuration settings and would like to start again from scratch as it were.
Presumably there is no real danger, or down side in doing this, as the BIOS will locate all various 'components' again anyway?
