For the last few years I have been in the position to get up whenever I want every day which resulted in a lot of lie-ins.

From Monday I need to get up at 6am sharp Mon-Fri. I want the transition to be as painless as possible without having to do an all-nighter. I got up at 6am today but I am suffering dearly.

Anyone got any tips to speed up the process so I can be top of my game in the morning by monday?

Don't worry about it too much. It's no different to having jetlag. Perceived wisdom is that your body will adjust by an hour a day (in my experience it's faster than that) so you're going to be sorted within a week or so anyway.

For the last few years I have been using a bidet.

From Monday I need to use toilet paper.

Tell me, how do I wipe my own backside?

I have this issue all the time working shifts.

Being an Air Traffic Controller I cant really afford to be cripplingly tired either.

What works for me is getting up very early on the last free day before having to get up early. I also can't afford to nap in the day. All this just makes me tired enough to fall asleep early on the eve of the early wake up.

So if I only have 3hrs sleep before my last day off....well that's tough. Its better being tired at home than on radar.

So in short, there's no easy way. I've just realised this probably isn't much help:(

Start going to bed a bit earlier each night, until you are going to bed (as going to sleep, not watching TV) at 10PM.

I wouldn't worry about it. What you are trying to do is not difficult, you aren't exactly working the night shift :p.

don't eat after noon on day 1 then make sure you get up at 6am on day 2 and eat a decent breakfast straight away. On subsequent days try to not eat too late but the long fast is only necessary to reset your rythm.

Reset body clock? stay up overnight and all through the next day, by 6-7pm you will be shattered, go to sleep and wake up at 8am the next morning

Body clock reset

I believe there is a reset button just inside the rear bottom cavity sometimes up to 6 inches inside. The finger or other implement can be used.
You can ask a friend to help if needed.

Think he said he didn't want to do an all nighter

For me I force myself up at the correct time and try to go bed earlier. That reminds me uni starts again soon goodbye 11am wake ups :(

This is why the UK is in such a mess.

So you have to be up at 6am? Well just have an early night

Come on mate , it's not rocket science.

Just don't be a **** and do what you need to do.

Life is pretty easy when you realise that you can actually do this without any help.

Fast for 16 hours then eat breakfast at the exact time you need to wake up.
Done.

Been switching nights to days every few days for about a year and that method works fantastic.

However I just sleep 2-3 hours then stay up on a diet of caffiene all day so I can sleep earlier the next.
