Sorry I wasn't sure which section to post this in.

I have been having trouble installing my new graphics card, XFX HD 4830, and have been discussing it on other threads in the graphics section. I have tried differnt things to get it working properly, but it won't. Im currently using the AMD690GM-M2 motherboard and thought this may be the problem, so am goingto buy a new one, but before I do someone said that resetting my CMOS may help.

How would I reset my CMOS properly?, because I have seen different ways of doing it using Google. And it won't change anything major on my PC will it?

Thanks :D

Yeah, and the power cord

A jumper is a tiny piece of plastic, that goes over the top of 2 pins on your mother board.

Your CMOS jumpers are usually a collection of 3 pins.

Jumper over pins 1 & 2 - cmos saved
move that jumper over pins 2 & 3, cmos cleared

Look in your motherboard manual for the location of them!

All I do is use the jumper. It should be near to the battery and labelled CMOS. On some motherboards there are 3 pins with 2 of them capped. You just swap the jumper onto the other 2 pins (There is only 2 ways it can fit on if you think about it) or on some motherboards there are 2 bare pins meaning you need to borrow a jumper off a DVD drive or something else. Or you can just short the 2 pins using a screwdriver. 30 seconds is usually plenty.
