Resetting Network and starting clean - How?

For reasons unknown my small home network (All PCS running WinXp) has decided to stop for 2 of my computers.

Here is my current setup:

My Computer is connected directly to the Virgin Cable Modem and also the small Hub.
A Desktop PC and a Laptop are then connected through cables to this Hub.

For months the connections have been fine, simply plug in a cable into the Hub, connect it to the PC that is wanting the Internet and away it goes.

Then yesterday the Desktop PC and Laptop just stopped connecting. MSN wouldn't work and neither did the Internet.
HOWEVER the only website that I could access was Google and Internet banking. All other websites refused to load, whilst on my PC the internet was working without a hitch.

Now the only theory I have for it not working is the program 'TuneUp Utilities 2009) as I was using this to speed up my PC, and I'm sure that I allowed it to modify some of my internet settings. This is the only time I can think that anything was modified and since doing it, the network has become unstable.

I've tried messing around with the connection and sadly I just get the 'Local Area Connection 18 - Limited or no Connectivity' in the Tasktray.

Can anyone shed some light on what might have happend, though I'm more than happy to just clear out the network settings and try from fresh, however I am unsure of how to go about doing this.

What's the best way to remove all current network connections and set it up again? Are there any console commands I can use? Programs and so on to help me remove all knowledge of a network and start from the beginning?

Really needing to get this sorted as people aren't happy they can not access the internet.

Thanks in Advance

Connection 18?!

either way limited connectivity = no IP address, make sure it's set to have an IP on the same subnet as the rest and the default gateway of the internet sharing PC.
It's asking for DHCP address leases from a DHCP server that doesn't exist. The other option is to set up a DHCP server on your PC which is also easily done.

Sounds like you've broken ICS somehow. Limited connectivity = didn't get an answer from a DHCP server, and ICS runs that.

A better option for your setup would be to connect the VM Modem to a port on the Hub and all client PC's to the Hub. That way the VM Modem will be the DHCP server and issue addresses to the clients (removes the ICS issues).

Just my 2pence!
Happy Xmas All

Except it wouldn't work - the cable modem will only give out one IP.

Something needs to do NAT. To go that router would require a router.

Opps, My Bad - I thought the VM Cable modem could handle more then 1 DHCP address, just checked my Surfboard, no dice! - Ignore my orignal post! :(

Yes, the best course of action would be to place a router in the mix.

Cheers for the help.

I've managed to fix it...though I am clueless as to what I did as I wasn't doing anything I hadn't already tried, unplugging wires and so on.

But whatever happened fixed it. Last thing I can remember clearly was unplugging the wire from the Cable modem to my PC network card, trying to stick it in the Hub, realizing it wasn't gonna work and then reconnecting it to PC. I'll have to remember this for the future :D

Thanks all and Merry Xmas
