found this vid on youtube

its a beta video for resi 4 and it looks a hell of a lot scarier than 4. now that i think about it 4 wasnt really that scary it was a lot more actiony. i really hope 5 is scarier, like the 1st.

no real point for this post, just something intresting i found for resi fans

That was a brilliant video, thanks for the heads up about that :). The use of small real life objects to create fear and tension really works well, as does the flashlight and the cameras movement.
Lets hope some parts of it are released in a sequel, unlike Resident Evil 1.5.

That actually looks pretty good, much more RE'ish as opposed to what 4 actually turned out like.

That's not to say 4 wasn't amazing, it was one of the best console games of all time imo.

Scrapped version of Resident evil 4, According to some posts, it was scrapped due to being too paranormal. Which i agree with, Res Evil is also bio hazard, and No Bio Hazard is going to release ghosts :p Zombies although unrealistic, Are more believable. And that's how Res Evil should stay.

yeh that beta does look a bit too paranormal, but it would still be better if it was in that style with more biological enemies.

Agreed, And I dunno if it was just with it being on the PC monitor, but the graphics looked a lot better than the final released Res Evil 4, The lighting did atleast anyways.

The lighting and camera angles do look good indeed. One of my chums has tried getting me to like RE4 (I love all of the other games) but it's just too different. The gameplay in this '3.5' version looks a bit more Resident Evil, but the paranormal side of things is too different in my opinion.

Isn't this what 4 was meant to be, but then they scrapped it and went for a different approach to the game?

I guess I'm the only one who thought it wasn't that good then?

All the "frights" were too cliched (BANG! SOMETHING STARTLING! DRAMATIC MUSIC! SUDDENT CHANGE IN VISUALS! NOT ACTUALLY AN ENEMY PHEW!), and only half of them looked to have any interaction, so it lacked a lot of tension. Maybe it would probably be different playing it, but I'm happy they decided to do something slightly different and new with 4. The "no escape from the mentalists" fear of Resi 4 was more interesting than a Doom3-esque startler.

That looks amazing, definitely wouldn't as Resi Evil 5(altho that wont happen).
I really like the 4th one tho altho its different from the old ones. I really like the controls where theres the function of dodging, etc.

You should try it again, I felt the same when I first played it but after abit you will get right into it. Best RE game by far imo, one of my fave console games of all time infact, brilliant game. Can't wait for 5, hope it comes on the 360 :)

Good news its coming out on the 360 :)

wow i think this is definitely how resident evil should be. don't care what paranormal or not, i just want the way it should be played. how could they scrapped this where the true element of resident evil really exists. :(

To tell the truth I really should. My chum mentions it all the time :p I think I'm just being a graphics snob since I've got a 360 also :o

I loved the original RE when it was first released, it remains one of my favourite experiences in gaming, but the problem was the gameplay style quickly began to looked dated (RE3 never held my interest). The changes in RE4 were inevitable. The same thing with happened with the Tomb Raider series....the same tired formula year after year which almost killed off the franchise. Change is good :) (most of the time).
