Resident Evil 4 Beta

I loved the original RE when it was first released, it remains one of my favourite experiences in gaming, but the problem was the gameplay style quickly began to looked dated (RE3 never held my interest). The changes in RE4 were inevitable. The same thing with happened with the Tomb Raider series....the same tired formula year after year which almost killed off the franchise. Change is good :) (most of the time).

I agree totally. My very first impression of RE4 was disappointment, the camera angle felt weird and I thought to myself have they ruined a classic series :( I continued playing however, and once I picked up the controls I couldn't put the game down. All RE fans MUST have this game, it was the only reason I bought my gamecube tbh :p I wasn't disappointed though, one of the best gaming experiences ever! In this case, the change definately worked. :)

I wish we could get all the main Res games on one console at some point:

Res 0, Res 1 (Directors), Res 2, Res 3, Veronica and Res 4

Well i'm confused as to what you mean as i have 0, 1(remake) , veronica and 4 sitting here on my cube and i could have bought 2 and 3 for the cube as they were released on that format too although they are now out of print so you'd be lucky to find a new copy .

Was thinking the same!

I liked 0 - 3's style, But to be honest, I think it was due for a bit of a make over, to carry on identical for years and years and only change the story. It would start to get very repetative. I think 4 for me was a welcomed change. :)

4 was the only one i got on with. stupid controls in the ones i played (0, 3 and veronica)

Maybe he just means the first RE on the Playstation?

I agree though. Last time I was really stuck into a RE game was with RE2. The story more than anything gripped me. I could see the gameplay becoming boring now, although changing it too much makes it seem unlike RE. So it's a vicious circle :p

More intuitive puzzles and a more complex storyline would really spark up the franchise I think. Oh and VEHICLES! (joking!) :D
