Which did you prefer?

I have just started going through 5 with a friend and have got to the 'marsh' scene. I can see why people might have thought 5 departed from the series origins - it has lost a lot of atmosphere and depth of even number 4, up to the point where it almost feels arcadey (fighting the giant on the car was rubbish compared to fighting the same enemy in 4). I guess this was an innevitable result of having co-op play. However, at the swamp stage I felt like things were picking up.

So will 5 get better as it progresses? Did you prefer 4 over number 5? If 5 isn't up to 4, I might end up very dissapointed :(

5 Deffo.. 5 Was good but found it lacking... And missed "Welcome Stranger" :D

Just got a Wii so will get it on that to play through.. Again...

I preferred 4 as the gameplay/camera view was fresh but Res 5 seems more on the tracks of MGS. Resi is no longer a survival horror, it's an action game.

Res 2 > Res 4&5

RE4 was better, i though with RE5 lost a lot of the intense action and tension that 4 had also 5 is way too short.

I think they main problem with the lack of intense action has to with the AI partner, the action is recreated in the Mercenaries mode but they are unable to replicated it in the single player.

Skyline RE4 is the best version of the game you will not be let down

One thing they really did get right with 5 however was assigning shortcuts to the D-pad. Changing weapons / items really slowed down the gameplay in 4, looking back.

LOL.. I know... I have it and have finished it numerous times on the GC.. :) Even got a RE4 GC.. ;)

The wii version controls better, there for making it the better edition (IMO) and it also has all the extra from the ps2 version, i guess i should have said thats why i though it was the best version of the game :)

Definitely 5 but I didn't like it for being resident evil, I liked it because it was a good action game. Probably the least scariest game I've ever played in the horror genre.

As soon as cinematics are introduced into these games it completely ruins the feel, even though the cinematics were awesome it got rid of the element of surprise which is essential in horror.

Resdent evil 4 was the last true Resi game for me, 5 seemed to crash of course and land on a completely differant road even though it was good.
