Resident Evil 7 VR New Version with Motion Controls!

I tried the RE2 VR mod but it was unplayable for me, you need guts of steel. The 3rd person perspective and constantly chopping views in cut scenes made me feel very uneasy.

I'll give this a try at some point though, being first person with proper motion controls should help although the cutscenes may still be a bit jarring.

My image is all multi-coloured and garbled on my quest 2 when i try to run it, the image on my pc screen is fine but in the headset its all multicolourd and psychedelic looking? any idea how to fix this?

My job is usually spent debugging and fixing problems with various types of software, in a few different languages but I previously gave up trying to get the mod to work. I’ll try again if there’s been a new release

Its been a bit of a journey getting to grips with the mod and RE7, but when it gets it right with you navigating the house dealing with threats and solving puzzles its very well done one of the best VR experiences I've had to date.

I'll definitely be giving RE8 Village a go in VR.

Some things I've learnt and would recommend to others...
- Don't install the HQ 4k Texture mod unless you're running a 3090 with a ton of VRAM the perf hit was painful
- If you have a high res HMD (above a Quest2) you will need a 3070Ti+ to get decent frames
- You need to enable a camera disconnect option in the mod settings to help ease the scripted scenes, otherwise the motion sickness effect is brutal
- Unless you have an OLED HMD display there is a camera option you need to enable which makes the scene a fair bit brighter but it improves the quality a lot so its a bit like playing early morning rather than the dead of night
- This is a room scale VR game, use your body to turn and walk small steps the experience is much better like that
- get your HMD at head height as you launch the game, its a PITA to adjust it in game
- there is an option in the custom config file to disable force anti aliasing, probably a good idea to set this as the game is quite demanding
