Thinking of getting every game in the series from 0 to 5 and others but am confused about which works best on what platform.Am thinking of getting them on pc but have only heard bad things for the early res pc ports is still the case ?

res 1 best platform to play on?
res 2 best platform to play on?
res 3 best platform to play on?
res 4 best platform to play on?
res 5 best platform to play on?

Surely the Wii version of RE4 would be best ? Includes the GameCube graphics + PS2 content + Wii aim and old method (i dont rate RE4 pc even with all the mods, it still doesnt have the lighting system as the GC, PC > PS2 however).

RE4 on Wii as others have said. RE Zero on GC was pretty good too. RE1-3 on PC were pretty poor mainly because the low-res PS1 pre-rendered backdrops etc looked shocking on hi-res monitors.

Buy on PC for all except RE0 is Gamecube only. Gfx are not poor at all on PC for RE1-3 you just need to adjust settings and obviously they will look dated anyway as almost 10 years old!

I found my RE4 on the Wii to have shocking graphics on my 37" screen compared to RE4 on the PC.

I'd go for RE4/5 on the PC

I remember playing the ports at super low res on a 17inch crt, and they looked bad then (especially 1-2). God knows what they would look like on an up to date large tft.

I reckon the first 3 games would be a better experience with a PS2/backwards compatibility on SDTV.

Is there anyway to configure the first 3 resident evil pc ports to use a 360 controller and not the keyboard even if its just a few key binds?

You definately want resident evil 1 on the gamecube, just read a review or two (it's a remake) and you will understand quite how much effort has gone into it looking that good. 2&3 Still look decent on a Ps1 with a SD TV, on PC they look like poo. 4 It's all negligible really, just get it for whatevers cheapest.

Resident evil 0 is not that great, and veronica is not worth bothering with either. Don't get me wrong, they are very decent just not really on par with the rest of the series.

PC is still the best gfx for RE1-3 but they are & will look very dated as the source image is 320x160 upscaled on PC. Even on my PS3 the PS2 version upscaled looked real bad.

Just get RE4 & RE5 on PC the early games had better gameplay but the gfx really look poor regardless of platform.

RE 0 - GameCube
RE 1 - GameCube / PSOne (Gamecube version is far better but it's not exactly the same game so go for both :p)
RE 2 - PSOne
RE 3 - PSOne
RE 4 - Wii / PC
RE 5 - PC??? I haven't played it but I guess best on a PC

I recently played through 4 on the PC. If you search for the user created high res textures, improvements and such, it becomes VERY nice indeed!
I really enjoyed replaying it as I originally had it on the gamecube, but it was so much better on the PC.
Also grab Resident Evil 1 on the gamecube if you get a chance, like others have said, I have been replaying it recently and it still looks and plays brilliantly!

On a side note, has anyone tried getting Resident Evil 2 to look nice on the PC? I seem to remember last time i tried all the backgrounds had lines going through them, looked all naffed. Probably futile trying to get it looking good with it being so old? I just really wish I could replay it as it was such a classic.

I don't think its worth playing the old RE games anymore if you have never played them before (very good games at release times but not anymore). You will be very disappointed by GFX especially RE1-3, RE4 I think you can still enjoy the game, it looks okish but gameplay is really good so is the RE5.

I wouldn't buy them yet, i heard they're remaking them again in decent graphics and possibly using the overheard camera as seen in Res 4 and 5.

i liked the RE 1 - 3 gameplay and wouldn't mind if they made all other RE's that way too :( sure that camera had its issues but its what made them unique and i wouldn't want it any other way :)

I've been toying with the idea of going through 1-3 again myself, and I never played 0. Regretting flogging my gamecube now. What makes 1-3 better for the PSX over the GC versions?
