I've been playing this over the weekend and I gotta say, it's been awhile since I've had a game that's made me swear at the TV, but damn this game is infurating me. I'm playing it on normal and it's completely kicking my ass.

Those chameleons, oh how I hate them, they might as well called them quick time events, absolutely no warning , other then a second or 2 of stomping then it's instant death, 1 hit and your gone.

Then there's suicidal nature of the AI, I heard this game had better AI then the original, but from what I've seen it breaks down into 2 scenarios, "Cover and shoot" and "Lets all rush the ****er!!!"

I walked into 1 room to be greeted by 2 big guys with shields sorrounded buy 5 of the normal chimera.
It took me over 10 tries to advance past this room, with no cover at all, I had to resort to back tracking down a corridor, while they all rushed towards me. The big guys took so many bullets to kill because of their shields and health, that before even I could kill 1 I was shredded to pieces by the rest.
I eventually got past this room because 1 of the big guys stuck in the door.

There have been a ton of instance like this and I'm not even half way through! I want to keep playing but this is quickly turning into a controller smashing game.

Strange, i found the game fairly easy even on the highest difficulty. I just abused the slow motion ability that the sniper rifle has.

For Chameleons you can hear them coming and the screen shakes, if you die just remember where he came from. they die with 3 bullets or one shotgun shell.

As for the other one, if you have an Auger, make sure you use the shield when there is little cover, if you have a Magnum, shoot the ground wait for the shield guy to walk over the bullet and hit R2 to detonate the round.

It can be frustrating as it takes very few hits to kill you but the A.I. is pretty predictable, if you die just remember where and how you died and avoid that situation the next time.

Well I just completed it, the final boss was a complete walk over

1 thing I hated was there was no real room for different tactics, you had to play the way the designers wanted you to.
Classic example was I was fighting 3 spider tanks (can't remembering the name), I was hiding in a building to the side while the NPC's were fighting them. So remember that they had weak cores at the back. I thought, the best way to deal with them is to run to cover behind the tanks and blow them up from the rear.
But no, second I left cover, the tanks ignored the guys shooting them and annihilated me in seconds. I tested this out a few times, leave the building they shoot at you, run back in and they ignore you. So I had to do it the designers way, take them out from inside the building. Which while easy, took bloody ages.

There were tons of these kind of instances, events not triggering or NPC's not helping until you passed a certain hidden waypoint, which could turn a difficult firefight into a walk in the park.

While checkpoints were often and close together, I can't say I was fond of the trial and error method I had to imploy in most situations.

Its prettier than the first, but its not as good, other than a couple of levels.
Neither are that hard though.

I am also playing this currently, bought the game 2nd hand for 10 euro.

Last night I did the Swarm and it also too a few tries but I am liking the game so far, not epic but good fun, I love the L23 Fareye slow-mo and the Auger.

You are right though about the game, it is scripted and you should do what the developers intended, I also find that the gun you use matters a lot, things like the Auger/Wraith shield can help a lot.

Not sure why you're having a lot of trouble, OP. I am normally hopeless when it comes to harder difficulties but even the superhuman playthrough is doable without too much stress. :D

dont worry i found resistance infuriating as well, the AI just rushed at you 9 times out of 10 and you find yourself wildly outnumbered. the worse things are those super-freaky tall skinny dudes that come out of pods, must have killed hundreds of those weirdos! its a good game though so stick with it...;) and remember there are no points for finishing quickly, take your time and be cautious

I hadn't played it for a while because I got a bit stuck but decided to fire it up and complete it the other day. Was pretty hard but as long as you don't rush and make use of cover and the slow motion mode on the sniper it wasn't too bad.

It's a good game though but the multiplayer I don't like. Seems to take silly amounts of ammo to take people out!

This one is still on my pile of cheap games that I've yet to play (though I did finish the first one), though only picked up my PS3 this year.

Is it as good as the first one, better, or worse?
