Just noticed on the PS blog that this is available to Plus members (as of yesterday's store update?) until early September.

Anyone played this yet or have any thoughts on it?

Annoyingly the 2nd article I read is regarding scheduled maintenance which means I cannot download the Beta till tomorrow!

Only played the Single Player demo which is set on a moving barge which is great as it dosnt give away too much of the game. The graphics were great, I loved the awesome weapons (great as always in the Resistance games) and the gameplay felt very satisfying. The enemies were cool and I loved trying to hide from the massive walker thing. The only thing I didn't like was the new health system. I much prefer recharging health in a game like this or at least to a point like in the original Resistance. Apart from that it was awesome.

Not interested in the slightest in Mutliplayer. To be honest I would have preferred they spent all their time on the Single Player and made the game longer or added more improvements than waste half their resources on Online modes in a years time no-one will play as even if something else comes along that is better, regular online fps addicts will still go back to their established franchises (Cod and Battlefield) no matter what. Single player can be enjoyed forever, Multiplayer definitely can't because either no-one will be playing it or the servers will inevitably shut down one day. I really don't get why devs now assume they HAVE to include online, as if every gamer demands it.

By the way this isn't meant as an insult to those that enjoy such things though, each to their own and all that, I'm just stating my own personal views on the matter.

I cant help but feel disappointed by what i have witnessed so far!
it does feel sluggish and it seems to run really slowly and clunky compared to other fps
The graphics are quite pretty but just feel out of proportion to me- as if the field of view needs to be widened
played tdm - run to other spawn and camp with shotguns seemed to be the gist, but the other mode was quite good if you can get a decent objective based squad.

I have been in the beta since the closed friends and family ...... it is a real beta that is really being used to tweak and tune settings, netcode, even graphical settings.

I find it a lot of fun and it has been getting better with each update.

If you liked RFOM then you will like this.

If everyone went back to their original series we'd all still be playing Doom.

well my view is that developers shouldn't even bother with single player, i only ever play multiplayer, AI is boring, i prefer playing against an actual person, its far more challenging and interesting.

its the reason why i didnt bother with gran turismo 5, it's mostly single player and although i loved the first 2, when online gaming became mainstream for me, i stopped playing single player altogether.

if i want a good story i'll watch a movie or an epic tv show such as the wire, sopranos, house, etc.

I never said anything about returning to basics. I was simply stating that not everything has to include Multiplayer and that I prefer the recharging health of the first game where it recharges back up to a point, or the second games health system where it recharges completely over time.

I respect your opinion, each to their own but as a collector as well as a games player I would be interested to know how you would play Multiplayer in five years time when the servers are inevitably shut down? When I buy a game I expect to be able to play it as long as I own it. Multiplayer as well as being boring imo is strictly time limited from the moment the games released. As for your story comment, I enjoy a good story in a game as much as a film and it can greatly enhance the experience if done right. A good game with a good story makes you feel as though you created or influenced it and makes you feel very much more a part of the experience. As for Gt5, I wouldn't bother going online unless you like bumper cars because that seems to be the preferred method of winning most people I came across used (bouncing off the walls instead of avoiding them and ramming you off the road incurring no damage to their own vehicle whatsoever) when I tried the dismal online mode.

While I'll no doubt end up playing the single player side of it when it's released (finished the first two, so want to see what happens next), I don't think I'll be bothering with the mutilplayer side of it . It doesn't do anything (admittedly based on a limited demo) that 101 other games haven't done before.

Is there a single player demo out that I have missed? I tried the MP yesterday and it disconnected from the servers every time I joined a game. Tried 4 times then gave up.

there was a sp demo on one of the asian stores a few months ago not sure which.
Had a few disconnects from mp but not since the newer patch and im sure more updates will come while the beta is live.

never played res1 but really enjoyed coop on 2 even though it was a bit easy, there will be online campaign coop in 3 but no 8 player like 2.

Enjoying the beta round a mates house but like others have said it does feel somewhat clunky and not in an awesome way like Killzone unfortunately.

The perks and stuff are really cool but definitely gives the higher level guys a distinct advantage, which will need balancing. It's far better than R2's deathmatch mode for sure but I can't help but think the class based system limits the MP mode for me.

BIG troll. I loved RFoM, but this is HORRIBLE! Its like R2, but MUCH worse, and I hated R2. Its such a bad game I feel like crying. They ruined a perfect game (RFoM0.

No worries, still will buy and whore it.

From the Singapore store, but it got removed

I've played it for maybe an hour but I'm not impressed.

The core mechanics are fine, but nothing you haven't seen before. The graphics are quite poor with low quality, fuzzy textures. I also don't particularly like the motion blur when sprinting.

There is a Single Player demo, its set on a small tug boat going along the river so doesn't give away too much of the game, which is a good thing as I don't want to spoil the surprise too much. However, you get to try out a few weapons, soak up the atmosphere and can generally see what the game looks and runs like, its good. Buyers of Battlefield L.A on Dvd or Blu Ray get the code to download it (my friend kindly donated his code to me as he bought Battlefield L.A and doesn't own a Ps3).

? Why is he a troll for stating his opinion in a mature post? And what was wrong with Resistance 2? I enjoyed both Resistance 1 + 2.

I had this argument with so many people on the forum :P RFoM and R2 were 2 different games, COMPLETELY. Generally, people who loved RFoM hated R2, and people who hated RFoM loved R2.

For the die hard RFoM fans (we are speaking about people who have more than 3k round on RFoM, like myself) think R2 is pish. I cba doing a list really, as I had already done one.

Still no reason on how I am a 'troll'.

Sorry, but I consider myself to be a Resistance fan and I like both games (I.E RESISTANCE fan). I'm sure I'm not alone so please don't quote for the masses when there are obviously people who disagree. I thought both games were very similar except for the way the health system worked. What is is exactly about Resistance 2 you despise so much?
