resizing / - howto without reinstalling

Hi all

What is the best way to fix my partition size issues.

This is my debian box, 2.6.32 .

Could I boot gparted on a live CD and resize my / to be bigger, and shrink my /home to give it the space ? Even though /home and / are not beside each other on the disk ?
