Whats the best resolution to have for a 22" monitor?

I found some have 1920x1080 and others have 1680x1050. Which is the native one for that size monitor and which looks better?

Native resolution depends on aspect ratio.
A 16:10 aspect ratio would be the following:

22 = 1680x1050
24 = 1920x1200

They've recently started releasing them with 16:9 aspect ratio. Which means they can sell a monitor as a 22", but it actually has less pixels, and is therefore cheaper. But not better.

I guess better is very subjective. Personally I like 1920x1200 on screens 24in or bigger, so using a 22in with that resolution - things on screen look a bit small to me. However, I know people love 1200p on their 22in - so it varies with people.

What I do know is that the best 22in is 1680x1050 and it looks brilliant. If you want something bigger and with 1920x1200 res, get this.

Don't mean to derail the thread, but what's the general consensus on 1920x1080 on 22" and 24" monitors, is there really much difference apart from the size of the screen?

I've a 22" Samsung T220 at 1680x1050 and personally I think this is perfect, Windows etc. isn't too small and games look great plus I can enable more eye candy than trying to run at 1920 on my 8800GT. All comes down to personal preference really, I wear glasses so the game and desktop size work best for me at 1680 on a 22".
