What could be the issue?

My thoughts are towards Graphics Drivers/Onboard GPU + Dedicated GPU Clash?

Randomly upon start up my PC Defaults to a low resolution 1024 x 768 with no option to choose higher resolutions, to resolve this I go into Device Manager which shows both GPU and Onboard GPU by disabling it and re-enabling it changes back to 1920 x 1080.

Any ideas how to resolve this permanently? It’s a pretty fresh driver install as it’s a new build.

Intel 12400 CPU
RX6600 GPU
Windows 11

Thanks :)

This is driving me insane...

On each boot my resolution is back down to 1064 x 768 with no option to increase unless I disable and enable my GPU multiple times before it finally resets to native.

I have ensured I am on the latest BIOS, GPU Drivers (All drivers in general) but after checking my GPU on Event Viewer it has a list of errors and red explanation marks despite showing fine in device manager.

Please see below and any guidance would be welcomed!

Also worth adding if related my Video Controller has an orange triangle in Device Manager with the error code despite having all drivers up to date.

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

Hopefully the above will allow some progress to be made.

Sounds similar to the DP(displayport) bug with my Dell screen (i gave up and stuck to using HDMI). Have you tried a different cable and/or connection type?

Can you disable igpu in bios? (may stop driver conflicts)

Seen in your other threads you are using a G-Sync monitor, could this cause issues?

If you can get into you AMD control panel, make sure it is not trying to use Freesync. (if you can)

Did you try you GTX 970 or did you sell it?

Tried HDMI yet?

Sorry for the delay - PC time really limited at the moment unfortunately.

I started up the PC and again it booted into low resolution with no option to change therefore I unplugged the Display Port and back in (No change, issue persisted) however I completely unplugged the monitor and plugged it back in and once the monitor itself booted up the image came back on at 1080P with all resolutions available in Display Options.

I am due a new monitor however I did not want to replace whilst this issue persisted but seems that it could in fact be the culprit?

I will try this.

I sold it without trying it in my new system stupidly.

No but judging by unplugging the monitor itself fixes the issue leaves me to believe that it is in fact causing the issue, originally having to disable GPU in device manager left me concerned of drivers conflict etc.

Going to replicate the monitor on and off fix to see if it fixes each time and if so I’m more confident this causes it 100% and then I’ll order a new monitor which can use both HDMI and DP for 144hz.

Thank you all - I will report back once I get a few occasions to try.
