ive a Syncmaster P2470HD with a GTX 470 and when i select 1920 x 1080 (native) the icons are slightly outside the screen and the colour is messed up. The funny thing is when i take the screenshot the icons appear to be ok but when im looking at it they r half outside the end of the screen.

Im using a HDMI lead from card to monitor.

This resolution was fine with my 8800GTS yesterday lol

Ive installed the latest 470 drivers off the nvidia site.

any1 any ideas?:(

I dont think it would be, but have you tried using a DVI lead instead? Long shot, but I have seen odder things. Also, I know this seems obvious, but have you uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them again to see if that helps? Thinking about it, it almost seems like a custom resolution has been setup. What size is your monitor? So many questions, Im sorry lol!

its a 24" 1080p monitor. ive just built a new rig with a 470. i had this resolution working fine on my old rig yesterday with a 5year old GPU.

i havent tryed the DVI yet as i want to try and get the HDMI working. I will try a fresh install of the drivers shortly if i cant tweak and fix it.

any other ideas?

oh and when i drop the res to 1440x900 the colour fixes itself and the icons r inside the screen normally. So dunno why its not working when i max the res

OK then, try 1280x720 (I think thats right) and see if it could be the 16:9 ratio playing up. I too have the 470 and have never had this issue.

does the screenshot in my first post look fine to you?

ive switched to 1440x900 and the screenshot is fine looking??? weird

Add: 1280x720 shows the icons outside the screen like 1080 and bad colour like it aswell

Yes the first screenshot looks fine.

So it looks to be an issue with 16:9 ratios. Have you tried just pressing "auto" or something on your monitor when in those resolutions and see if it sorts itself out?

It sounds like your monitor alignments are wrong, fiddle about with the settings on it and shift it a bit the other way. I'm not sure all monitors have that though?

If it doesn't have it, there should be an option within the graphics card control panel to that effect, have a look around :)

Yep sounds like this. I thought it would be. What monitor do you have?

i shouldnt have to adjust it, 1920x1080 is the recommended resolution. I think its the nvidia drivers. ive just noticed that my sound doesnt work either with them installed.

my monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster P2470HD 24"

Heh, nah I meant what monitor has the OP got. Sorry I should have said.

I thought you meant that, it says at the top of his post he has a Syncmaster P2470HD ;)

Unfortunately it doesn't matter whether you should have to adjust it or not, not all PC hardware is backwards compatible in many respects, just have a fiddle and I'm sure you will sort it out.

Try changing the drivers around then.

yea im dgonna try the 260.89 drivers.

would an update for my BIOS help in any way? i currently have 0505 version for the Asus Sabertooth and theres a 0603 available for download.

Sounds to me like overscan. Many monitors enable overscan for HDMI but not for DVI. Look through the monitor's options to disable overscan (set to "100%", "full", "none" or whatever) or use DVI instead.
