When i play certain games (some old and some new) i find that if i use any resolution other than 800x600 i get 1cm of black screen at the top and sides of the picture.
My monitor is a CRT 19" and my desktop is always at 1280x1024.

Anyone have any idea?

In nwn2 i can select an option to 'put into windowed mode' then change it to 800x600, then go back to full screen then it will let me have my 1600x1200.

Using the controls on the monitor, resize the display until it fits the screen.

Most monitors will then remember those settings.

When in desktop i am using 1280x1024 (which has no black bit), but if i select 1600x1200 on the nvidea resolution options it does the same black line thing.

@ns400r : If i adjust my monitor to cope with the game then desktop will be out.

Maybe not. The recent CRT monitors I have used have remembered at least 10 different screen resolutions so once configured the black edge shouldn't be a problem.

Yep crt monitors remember the resolution geometry settings in the bios or whatever. My crt auto changes for every resolution so it fills the screen.

It works now, thanks a lot. No more black lines!

Never suspected it to be so simple. So as i set it up for 1600x1200 it will now always remember the monitor setting for that resolution... amazing what they can do with computers now ;)
