Resolution vs Graphics Detail - Which is Best?

Native resolution, highest possible settings. Then sacrifice in order of preference depending on game.

AA first
Then shadows
Then things like grass/foliage/other mesh based detail
Etc

Will NEVER sacrifice resolution below native. Has the worst overall impact on visible quality.

Looks like most people are favouring the higher resolution over the higher settings. My experience is that generally the difference between ultra settings and medium-high settings is quite subtle in many games, with perhaps extra shadows or technically impressive extra lighting taking up a huge amount of GPU grunt, but not actually improving the overall eye candy too much. I guess you can always take satisfaction in the sharper lines from running a higher resolution.

After Gaming on a 1440p monitor dropping to 1080p on the same monitor looks muddy to me ;)
