Hi guys,

I recently got myself a lovely 30" Dell, the 3007wfp monitor, trouble is, when I try to set the resolution to 2560x1600 and click apply I get this:

I have tried two different dual-link dvi cables and three different gfx cards (both my 6950's and my brothers gtx480) all with the same result.

I am really stuck for ideas here, it's driving me mental trying to figure it out, anyone got any suggestions?

Been trawling the Dell forums and all they seem to suggest is a new graphics card, but I know the card isn't the problem. I am majorly unhappy right now, it would seem likely that the monitor is at fault which means trying to send it back to the guy i got it from and getting my money back /sigh

If the GPUs have multiple DVI ports (I know the 6950 does) did you try using both of them? It was worth asking just incase ;).

Looks like you aint using a dual link dvi cable or your gpu doesnt support dual link. What card you have?
If your card does support dual link then maybe buy a new duallink cable to test

I've found a vid of what's happening, this guy reckons he fixed it with another cable. I've tried two already, not sure whether this is the issue or not?

Any more ideas would be appreciated

Where did you get the cables from?

Some of those sold on auction sites can be rubbish.

Can you use any resolution higher than 1280x800? 1920x1200 for example.

I would expect both of those cables to be of sufficient quality to the job.

It could be some weird compatability issue but I cetainly wouldn't expect that with the cable supplied with the monitor.

Did you see the monitor working at 2560x1600 before you bought it?

Edit

You're correct that the next resolution it will display below 2560x1600 is 1280x800 due to the lack of a scaler.
